Steve Mackenney

Steve graduated with a law degree from Cambridge University before qualifying as a barrister with a specialist interest in medical law. During a ten-year career in central Government, Steve became Head of Quality, Safety and Clinical Governance in the Department of Health and led development of the country’s first National framework of Healthcare Standards.

Steve has also lectured and worked on healthcare quality internationally, including time with the European Commission, the World Health Organisation and Health Care Sans Frontières. He has a degree in modern languages and is fluent in French.

Steve’s passion for helping to improve quality and safety in healthcare inspired him to launch C2-Ai with co-founder Graham Copeland. Their mission is to provide solutions which offer truthful, detailed analysis of front-line clinical practice and support the journey towards zero harm.

Dr Mark Ratnarajah

A practicing pediatrician and former healthcare venture capitalist, Mark spent 20 years working in the National Health Service in the United Kingdom, and as a traveling physician in Australia and New Zealand.

Formerly a physician in one of the largest rehabilitation centers in the UK, Mark provided expert medical and psychological care for thousands of patients experiencing traumatic injuries each year.

Mark received an Executive MBA from the London Business School, where he has also lectured on healthcare resource planning and training of senior healthcare executives.

Graham Copeland

A highly respected expert on patient safety as well as a general surgeon and the author of the POSSUM scoring system for surgical audit, which is utilized in over 30 countries.

Graham is considered an international authority, advising governments and authorities around the world on effective applications in medical practices – including the VA and on the creation of NSQIP.

He has over 30 years as a specialist in clinical audit and outcome measures, and was an advisor to the Caldicott Committee in the UK, the Healthcare Commission, and the National Institute of Clinical Effectiveness.

Steve has worked in tech and software businesses for 30 years, taking three on the journey from startup to exit including building a SaaS offering from $4m to nearly $100m in only a few years.

Steve brings immense experience in developing channels, offers and ensuring that our range of clients are a core part of our development process.

Claire Bale

Claire graduated in Human Geography from The University of Leicester, studying a variety of disciplines including global politics, economy and culture. As C2-Ai’s COO she is a key member of the management team and oversees the company’s diverse business operations, reporting directly to the CEO.

Claire holds a variety of central roles in business management and implementing new company processes, whilst overseeing the planning of resources by prioritising customer, employee, and organizational requirements, project management for installation of CRAB and Compass software and ensuring clinical engagement and training of the systems.

Dr Mike Roberts has joined C2-Ai after 7 years of working with the systems in both hemispheres as a CMO.

CMO - International

Dr Mike Roberts

Dr Mike Roberts has a background in emergency medicine and cardiothoracic surgery. He has worked in both the NHS and in New Zealand, where he has held chief medical officer and medical director roles for more than 15 years.

He works to help expand how C2-Ai’s products are used by healthcare providers – for both new and existing customers, with a focus on international markets

CMO - Life Sciences

Dr Sheuli Porkess

Sheuli is a highly experienced and respected leader in life sciences.  

Sheuli originally trained in medicine at Cambridge and Oxford then worked in the NHS before moving to pharmaceutical medicine. Sheuli has worked internationally in medical affairs, clinical development and life science policy.

She is the Vice President of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine, a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of London and a Global Fellow in Medicines Development with IFAPP.

Sheuli is a member of the Steering Group for the UKRI Multiple Long-Term Conditions Programme, the AoMRC Genomics Professional Partnerships Group and the UK Pharmacogenetics and Stratified Medicine Network Steering Group.

Sheuli is also a visiting lecturer at King’s College London.

Caronlyn Heaney

Carolyn originally studied Politics & Social Policy at the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne.

Carolyn joined the UK Department of Health, having originally studied Politics & Social Policy for her degree.  She is a life-long supporter of the NHS and the pursuit of patient-centred health and care services that improve health outcomes and reduce health inequalities.

Carolyn’s career in DH included wide exposure across health and care priorities.

She has held a range of key leadership roles within and outside Government – collaborating across government, public health and care, life science sectors, education and voluntary organisations, leading to:

  • stronger partnership between third sector and health and care organisations
  • clearer alignment of social care, public health and NHS
  • safe transition and development of England’s world-class national immunisation programme during the 2013 NHS reforms, and
  • closer alignment of priorities and ‘triple wins’ for patients, NHS, pharmaceutical industry

Senior Nursing Advisor and Creator

Tina Richardson

Christina has over 19 years of experience in critical care nursing and pre-operative assessment. She has designed and implemented clinical care pathways in a variety of clinical settings and designed and organised satellite outpatient clinics which increased patient acquisition and patient satisfaction.

She joined CRAB Clinical informatics in 2013 acting as Senior Nursing Advisor and participates in the writing of review reports and the development of software packages.

Christina is the co-developer of the Copeland-Richardson index which provides unique new metrics for medical care to supplement our existing suite of evidence-based insights. 

Chief Technical Officer (Nordic)

Åke Ytterlind 

Åke is a physician specializing in health care management, health policy, public health and prevention, with special interests in patient safety risk analysis and the application of health economics.

Based in Stockholm, Sweden, he has wide-ranging health care system experience from working on several levels, clinical to policy-making, as well as in the related fields of R&D, mainly focusing on improving overall decision support.

 Åke graduated with an MD from the Karolinska Institute, before pursuing post-graduate studies in Public Health Sciences. He also studied economics at the Stockholm School of Economics. He was trained in human factors and risk analysis at Eurocontrol, Luxembourg and has collaborated with researchers at the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis in Vienna. Åke has worked in the fields of business intelligence and sustainability as a consultant at the SAS Institute and is the co-author of a textbook on prevention.
